Greenwood Great House

Greenwood Great House (located on the border of St. James and Trelawny – 15 miles from Montego Bay) – this estate house is over 200 years old. Formerly owned by the family of Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, the famous English poet, Greenwood is one of the best preserved great houses on the island.
The historic integrity of the property has been maintained by Bob and Ann Betton since 1976 when they first opened the museum to the public. Since opening, Greenwood has received numerous awards including the Musgrave medal for excellence in heritage preservation (one of the most prestigious awards in Jamaica), the National Association of Returning Residents plaque and the Berger Paints Heritage in Architecture award.
