La Romana — DINING

The majority of international-quality restaurants are available within the “Casa de Campo” grounds. Such dining options include the Chinese restaurant “Chinois”, the Italian restaurants “Peperoni” (affiliated with the restaurant of the same name in Santo Domingo), “Mistral” (within the marina) and “Lago Grill” (which serves Dominican dishes like the famed Sancocho stew), as well as American and seafood.
Outside of Casa de Campo’s grounds, the restaurant “Shish Kabab” (Calle Francisco del Castillo Marquez 32) offers something different: Middle Eastern (Lebanese) cuisine, in the form of Baba Ghanouj (with mashed eggplant studded with fresh parsley, fresh garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and sesame paste). The beef kabobs are tastily grilled. There are also platters of meat and fish that include broiled lobster, deep-fried chicken, and/or stuffed grape leaves. There is also “Don Quijote” restaurant (Calle Diego Avila 42), which is best-known for its seafood paella.
