Pickapeppa Company Ltd./Factory Tour (Shooters Hill, near Mandeville) – this area of Jamaica is responsible for producing one of Jamaica’s better-known and admired products: Pickapeppa Sauce. Viewed as a Jamaican version of New Orlean’s Tabasco sauce, this product is used by cooks to spice up various foods – from eggs to meats, other sauces, etc. Made with tamarind, onions, tomatoes, sugarcane vinegar, mangoes, raisins and other spices, this product is popular not only within Jamaica, but within other countries (USA, Canada & UK) where there are large Jamaican and West Indian immigrant communities.
